Rugby Development Strategy Roadshows are underway! |
Scottish Rugby is in the process of developing a new 2024-28 strategy for the community game and would like to invite club, school and society representatives to attend a strategy roadshow.
The strategy roadshows will be an opportunity to have your say on the priorities moving forward for the community game.
The first of our roadshows took place last night, and we were delighted to see so many people there to help us shape our future strategy.

Throughout the Rugby World Cup, Scottish Rugby has a number of opportunities for you to take your first steps towards becoming a match official.
Linking in with live screenings of the Scotland Men v Tonga RWC match, four courses are planned this Sunday 24 September 1-4pm.
At Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday 30 September, there is an opportunity to complete the Introduction to Match Officiating course before attending the Scotland Women v Spain autumn test match at Hive Stadium (with a complimentary ticket), with female only and open courses planned.
There are many reasons to take up match officiating; remaining involved in the sport after playing, choosing to enhance your knowledge of the laws or progressing through the career pathway to achieve your goal in officiating. No matter what the reason, officiating is a rewarding, exciting, and enjoyable way to stay involved in rugby.

Following on from the launch of Scottish Rugby’s Player Welfare Action Plan for the domestic game, a new First Responder course has been created and is now available for the rugby community to undertake.
The online course has been designed by Scottish Rugby’s Welfare Manager, Dr Karen Barclay and Scottish Rugby’s wider medical team and aims to help people understand basic principles in delivering assistance in the event of a serious injury or illness until more skilled help arrives, which Dr Barclay describes as ‘lifesaving skills’.

Oban Lorne represent Scotland at Amatuer Rugby World Cup tournament - good luck! |
A squad of 35 players and coaches from Oban Lorne will trade the West Coast of Scotland for the South-East seaside resort of Saint-Raphael this week as they travel to France to represent Scotland in the inaugural Amateur Rugby World Cup.
Running from 22-30 September, the festival has been organised in France by Rugby Club Dinois, as they bring together 16 amateur clubs from all over the world to compete for the first ever world amateur title.
The teams will play group matches spread over two days, and just like the national team, Oban have been drawn to face club teams from South Africa, Tonga and Romania.
The top two of each group will qualify for the finals while the unqualified teams will be able to participate in ranking tournament.
Murray Hamilton, the organiser of the trip, is really excited about Oban’s opportunity to represent Scotland in France, saying: “I can’t believe it’s nearly here. We’ve been planning this for quite some time now. This isn’t just a rugby tour; this is a chance to represent grassroots rugby in Scotland. We’re raring to go!”
Read more about Oban's journey to playing in France and how you can stay up to date with their progress. |
