In this week's Club Communications you'll find a message sent on behalf of Scottish Rugby President, Colin Rigby, plus important information about Incoming Players and Club Accident Insurance.

In the past week your club officials will have received details relating to SGM 2 to be held on the 28 September 2022. On 6 June 2022, you, as member clubs voted with over 95% of the vote in favour of the “Crerar Report” mandating the Standing Committee on Governance (SCOG) to complete the necessary documents to bring about what member clubs, as the owners of Scottish Rugby, had approved and instructed their representative Council to bring into effect on their behalf.

SCOG has now completed the formal part of the remit set by Council: the paperwork submitted does exactly what has been asked of it, Council in turn has unanimously approved it and now laid it before you the membership.

I do, however, recognise that the distributed paperwork contains a significant number of papers, a number of which are quite detailed. I have therefore asked SCOG to host a series of Q&A sessions so members have the chance to make an informed choice and ask any questions they see fit.

Tuesday 13 September: All Premier and National Fora’s at 5.30pm
Tuesday 13 September: Midlands and North Regional Fora’s plus Match Officials at 7.30 pm
Wednesday 14 September: Glasgow North and Glasgow South Regional Fora’s at 5.30pm
Wednesday 14 September: Edinburgh and Borders Regional Fora’s at 7.30pm

Login details will be distributed in due course.

This is a significant milestone in the Governance Review Process and I would urge all members to consider carefully the documents, their responses and attend SGM2 on 28 September to ensure that their voices and votes are heard and counted.

Finally, may I thank Professor Lorne Crerar, Chair of SCOG , the SCOG team and my council and their predecessors for their time, expertise and diligence in arriving at the submissions now laid before you.

Player Payment Declaration - deadline extended

With a number of clubs still outstanding in their submission of a signed Annual Declaration Form, in accordance with SDR 4.1, the deadline has been extended to Wednesday 21 September.

Alongside a signed copy of the Annual Declaration Form, all member clubs providing player Benefits (as defined in SDR 4.1) must also provide an Annual Listing of Player Benefits.

The Declaration and Player Listing Forms for season 2021/22 cover the period 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.

The forms for this MUST be submitted by 21 September and should be submitted by ALL members clubs.

Incoming Players

Club Accident Insurance

All players coming in from another Union (even the RFU, WRU or IRFU) require International Clearance before they can play.

If your club has any players coming in for the new season, please allow sufficient time to ensure that the Clearance process can be completed prior to the player’s first game.

The Club Accident Insurance process has now moved to SCRUMS and clubs are reminded to complete their 2022/23 Proposal Form on SCRUMS by no later than 15 September 2022.

Please note only those with club Administrator access will be able to view this section of SCRUMS.

Conditioning for Children & Youth (Level 1) Courses

Conditioning for rugby is an entry level course designed for current rugby coaches and new volunteers interested in the physical development of mini and youth players.

Delivered in two parts, the course will develop coaches understanding of: screening, warm-ups/cool downs, speed and agility, fundamental movement skills and integrated conditioning.

The course will also explore ways to keep conditioning fun and engaging for players, maximising game-based activities, and delivery through rugby sessions.

The course is split into two aspects - part one involves online learning, and part two is a five-hour face-to-face practical workshop.

The cost is £30 (inc. VAT) and next round of courses are as below:
