Scottish Cup, National Shield & National Bowl update

The Scottish Cup, National Shield and National Bowl competitions are heating up as the quarter-final and semi-final rounds have been drawn.
The ties for the National Shield and National Bowl semi-finals will be Saturday 1 April.
National Shield semi-final 1: East Kilbride v North Berwick
National Shield semi-final 2: Stewartry v Dunfermline
National Bowl semi-final 1: Edinburgh University Medics v Panmure
National Bowl semi-final 2: Kinloss Eagles v Cumbernauld
The Scottish Cup continues to progress, and the quarter-final rounds are scheduled for Saturday 1 April, the weekend after the Round 2 ties (Saturday 25 March).
As such, Scottish Rugby have made the quarter-final draw, so that teams immediately know where they are going on completion of their Round 2 ties.
Scottish Cup quarter-final 1: GHA or Ayr v Selkirk or Musselburgh
Scottish Cup quarter-final 2: Kelso or Heriot’s Blues v Dundee Rugby or Glasgow Hawks
Scottish Cup quarter-final 3: Currie Chieftains or Melrose Rugby v Marr or Watsonian FC
Scottish Cup quarter-final 4: Edinburgh Academical or Hawick v GHK or Stirling County

| Tennent's Men's Premiership Final |
The Tennent’s Men’s Premiership Final (Saturday 11 March) will be broadcast for worldwide viewing on the Scottish Rugby website.
Hawick and Currie Chieftains booked their place in the Premiership final, after defeating Marr and Edinburgh Accies respectively in the semi-final play-offs last weekend.
The game will be hosted at Mansfield Park after the Borders side finished top of the table in an unbeaten run at the end of the regular season.
Coverage will start from 2.50pm on scottishrugby.org with commentary from Stuart McFarlane, who will be joined by Dale Clancy on co-comms.
In addition to the worldwide coverage, a highlights show with the best of the action and captain’s interviews will be available on the Scottish Rugby website and social media channels in the evening.

| Scottish Government alcohol consultation |
|
Scottish Rugby will host a Community Game Conference for club, school, and society representatives on Sunday 11 June 2023 at BT Murrayfield. Building on the success of last year’s Game Development Conference, attended by over 250 coaches and match officials from across the domestic game, this year’s conference will also include sessions for club, school and society leaders and volunteers. Further details of sessions and guest speakers along with registration details for the conference will be confirmed later in Spring. The Scottish Government (SG) has published a public consultation on potential alcohol advertising and promoting restrictions in Scotland.
The consultation paper, available here, is wide ranging and covers potential restrictions on all of the major sources of alcohol advertising and promotion in Scotland, including advertising outdoors, in-store, and through sports and events sponsorship. Clearly, this could have serious financial implications for rugby clubs and the Government is keen to hear your views. Scottish Rugby invites clubs to consider responding to the consultation via Citizen Space, here.

Scottish Rugby Schools Week supported by Saltire Energy returns next week!
Scottish Rugby Schools Week supported by Saltire Energy aims to increase opportunities for girls and boys to engage in rugby by supporting schools (teachers) to deliver new rugby activities or highlight existing rugby activities, whilst providing links to local clubs.
Through significantly enhanced CPD and teacher specific rugby resources, focusing on secondary schools, Schools Week will look to provide educational opportunities to support and inspire teachers to deliver rugby in state schools.
It aims to enhance the opportunities for young persons to experience rugby through participation events, whilst developing a delivering legacy for future rugby prevision in schools across Scotland.
The programme is once again supported by Saltire Energy, a leading rental specialist in oil and gas equipment to the global energy sector.

| International Women's Day: Wednesday 8 March 2023 |
Tomorrow is International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to celebrating women around the world, by sharing stories from the community game in Scotland.
Rugby is one of the fastest-growing team sports in the world for women and girls; whether you’re tall or short, powerful or fast, no matter what age – rugby is a game for everyone.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) is Embracing Equity.
The IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme seeks to get the world talking about why "equal opportunities are no longer enough" - and can in fact be exclusionary, rather than inclusive.
Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities.
Equity recognises that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
Scottish Rugby will be engaging in IWD tomorrow with stories from community game players and match officials - stay tuned!
