In this week's Club Communications you'll find reminders on the 2022/23 funding including the CSF Fast Track deadline extension, Club Investment Fund and Developing Clubs Investment programme, guidance on new regulation (SDR 4.1 : Player Contracts and Payments) and information regarding a series of Game Development ‘kick off’ webinars.

Fast Track applications deadline extended

Due to a technical issue on the Scottish Rugby website in hosting the Fast Track application forms which has since been resolved, we are extending the deadline to apply to this fund to Sunday 7 August 2022.

The Fast Track grant provides funding of up to £2,000 for club maintenance or improvement projects. Guidelines on the eligibility of projects for this fund along with the paperwork to apply can be viewed in the link below.

Club Sustainability Fund

Player Payment Annual Declaration Season 2021/22

Scottish Rugby wishes to prevent inappropriate and financially unsustainable player payment practices.

It has therefore developed a Regulation (SDR 4.1 : Player Contracts and Payments) with a view to providing an effective deterrent to such inappropriate and unsustainable practices.

In accordance with SDR 4.1, member clubs must provide a signed Annual Declaration Form in respect of each Season which can be found HERE

Clubs providing player Benefits (as defined in SDR 4.1) must also provide an Annual Listing of Player Benefits which can be found HERE

The Declaration and Player Listing Forms for season 2021/22 cover the period 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022 and must be returned to Scottish Rugby no later than 31 August 2022.

Season 2022/23 "Kick off" webinars

Ahead of the 2022/23 season, a series of ‘Kick off’ webinars will be delivered to update coaches, match officials and players on key aspects including law trials, age grade law variations and concussion protocols.

Club Investment Fund and Developing Club Investment programme - reminder

If your club wishes to apply for either of these funds please ensure that the acceptance from is signed and returned to the Rugby Development Department at rugbydevelopmentadmin@sru.org.uk no later than 17 August 2022.

Here is a reminder of the key details you and your clubs need to know regarding both the Club Investment Fund and the Developing Club Investment programme.

Club Investment Fund

· This season, the Supporting Clubs Investment Programme (SCIP) will be replaced by a newly developed Club Investment Fund.

· The core investment areas of this fund will focus on ‘Participation’ and ‘Growth and Sustainability’.

· Through this model, the amount of overall available funding to clubs and schools for travel to games in Scottish Rugby adult and youth competitions or any other Scottish Rugby organised game play programmes has doubled.

· Clubs will be automatically compensated for mileage to all their fulfilled Scottish Rugby fixtures, regardless of the distances involved. Previously payments were only available if the return journey exceeded 200 miles.

· Payments will be made in October 2022 and May 2023 by BACS transfer to the clubs nominated account.

· A further substantial change within the funding model will see teams competing in the Tennent’s Women's Premiership league able to claim up to £10,000 in medical support in-line with the Men’s Premiership.

Developing Clubs Investment programme

· This programme remains in place from last season, with updates to criteria for receiving investment under the ‘Minimum Operating Standards’ and ‘Growth and Sustainability’ categories.

· This funding is only available to those clubs that are not eligible for the Club Investment Fund.

· One of the key changes under this programme is the increase in funding for clubs fielding youth teams. Clubs will now be able to claim £500 per youth team, an increase of £150.

Players required to update SCRUMS registration – reminder

Scottish Rugby is updating the data collected on the SCRUMS player registration system.

Adult players were contacted in the Spring with a request that they log in to SCRUMS and confirm their registration information.This includes confirmation that they have read and will comply with various regulations and policies that govern the game in Scotland.

Players that have not updated their SCRUMS profile before the start of season 2022/23, will be unavailable for teamsheet selection in SCRUMS and therefore, unable to play in Scottish Rugby competitions.

Players still have time to update their profile before the season starts, and we would ask that you encourage players at your club who are 18 or older confirm their registration information as soon as possible.

The deadline for completion is:

Women: Saturday 20 August
Men: Saturday 27 August

If players have forgotten their log in, information can be recovered it by clicking the ‘Forgot Your Password’ link on the log in page.
